Benefit Trust History
About Us
Chartered in 2002, Benefit Trust Company is a privately owned, independent, non-depository trust company that was formed to fill the void created by the consolidation of traditional bank trust departments, as well as the continued loss of local ERISA fiduciaries. The ongoing consolidation of service providers, coupled with the move toward trust service providers who are compensated through investment vehicles, has left a void in the market for a company exclusively focused on fiduciary work. The only product that we sell is fiduciary service. We do not profit from investment vehicles.
A Single-Minded Focus
The single-minded focus of providing fiduciary trust and custody services exclusively to retirement plan sponsors, participants and beneficiaries gives Benefit Trust Company a unique position in the industry. Our professional staff and support group average nearly 20 years of ERISA experience each. Not only that, but they are fully dedicated to helping clients understand the complexities of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans. This specialization, knowledge, skill, and experience are highly valued by the clients, consultants, and investment managers we interface with every day.
A Pioneer in GASB Solutions
Our fiduciary services encompass not only the corporate arena, but also public entities adhering to GASB (Government Accounting Standards Board) guidelines. Benefit Trust Company has been at the forefront of providing solutions to the challenges of funding Other Post Retirement Benefits (OPEB) as detailed in GASB 43 and GASB 45. A recognized expert, Benefit Trust has consulted with a variety of entities about GASB in numerous states across the country. We continue to lead the way in helping public entities meet their financial obligations under GASB in a fiscally responsible manner.
